Meleah Perkins

Meleah Perkins, 69, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Stonebrook Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 3, 1956 in New Castle to the late Richard “Dick” and Waunita (Scott) Hedrick.

Meleah was employed as a banker for forty-three years, having worked at First National Bank and Bank One. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and AWANA. She also volunteered at the church as a receptionist. Meleah loved caring for her pets, especially her dog Gia. Some of her hobbies included camping, cooking, NASCAR races and she was a huge IU fan.

Those left to cherish Meleah’s memory are her husband of 23 years, Tony Perkins; children, Brandy (Brandon) Spiker of Carthage, Ashley Perkins (companion: Jared Jessup) of Greenwood, and Camron Perkins of New Castle; Grandson, Landon Spiker; in-laws: Doug and Sherry Perkins; .sisters-in-law: Debi (Randy) Wallick, Lonna (Bruce) Bean, Carla (Alan) Leach, Jenny Perkins and Shawna Perkins; a niece who helped care for her: Natalie Redd; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends including Bob and Carol Rinehart, Karen Dickey, Dan and Kathy Perkins, Jim and Patti Catron, Sherry Schmidt, Brenda Raines, Lisa and Brian Eversole and family, Carol and Gene Keith.

In addition to her parents, Meleah was preceded in death by a brother: Duane Hedrick; grandparents, Cecil and Ada Scott and Clifford and Hazel Hedrick. 

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at First Baptist Church in New Castle with Pastors Jerry Ingalls, Jack Hannum and Ken Durham officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church.
