Melinda Ann Wallen

Melinda Ann Wallen, 52, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at her home in New Castle. She was born December 27, 1972 in Oneida, Tennessee to Archie and Lois (West) Perry.

Melinda had previously worked at Somerset Hardwoods in Somerset, Kentucky. She was the manager of Fashion Bug clothing in Indianapolis, Pendleton and Somerset. Melinda was an avid reader and enjoyed all types of music. She loved to go camping and fishing, but more than anything, she cherished time spent with her grandbabies.

Left to cherish Melinda’s memory are her children; Dakota Wallen and Harlee (Mark) King, both of New Castle; grandchildren, Addison and Archer King, Maverick Wallen and Leeland Richardson; former husband, Michael Wallen of New Castle; sisters, Carolyn (Crandall) King and Thelma (Starling) Douglas, both of Whitley City, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Melinda is preceded in death by her sister, Priscilla Spradlin.

There will be a Celebration of Life held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
