MICHAEL K ROGERS (1941-2026)

Mike went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 10, 2026.

Mike was the oldest of two sons born to Bob and Polly Rogers in Winchester, Indiana. The family moved to Fort Wayne in 1942; and then settled in Farmland, in 1945.

He attended Farmland public schools; Monroe Central High School, graduated in 1959;

Indiana University, B.S. 1964; and Ball State University, M.A. 1970.

Mike enjoyed a long and varied professional career. News Director, WCTW Radio, New Castle, 1963-67; assistant director, Radio-TV, Ball State University, 1967-71; public relations; Howard S. Wilcox, Inc., vice-president, 1971-75; AMAX Coal Company, director of communications, 1975-1985; president, Rogers Communications, Inc. 1984-1989; and in various executive roles in state and local affairs for Consolidated Rail Corporation/Norfolk Southern from 1989 until his retirement.

Service to the State of Indiana was also an important part of his calling. He was an Indiana State Representative from 1966-1972 and an Indiana State Senator from 1981-1988.

He was married to his love, Nancy Ellen Rogers, who preceded him in eternal glory in 2025. Mike was a devoted father to three children; Michelle, Melissa and Ron, and a loving grandfather to six, and an adoring great-grandfather to eleven.

Mike is survived by his children Ron (Rebecca) Rogers, Michelle (Mark) Thrash in Texas, and Melissa (John) Garner in Indiana; as well as his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at 1:00pm, September 3, 2026, at South Mound Cemetery, in New Castle, Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
