Michael Ray Upchurch

Michael “Mike” Ray Upchurch, 72, passed away on November 5, 2026. He was born on March 17, 1954, in New Castle to the late Gleason and Audrey (Lowe) Upchurch.

Mike lived a quiet life and will be remembered for his steady presence and simple enjoyments. He was a 1972 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. Mike spent many years in California, where he worked as a pool technician. During that time, he also enjoyed hiking with his dogs. In later years, he worked at IAF, Indiana Automotive Fasteners, in Greenfield. He was also someone who enjoyed watching television and following NASCAR racing.

Those left to cherish his memory include his siblings, Dennis Upchurch and Debra Upchurch-Cole; nieces and nephews, Shane Cole, Sonnie Pierce, Kelli Cole, John Upchurch, Sara Upchurch, Eric Barnes, Josh Barnes, and Cindy White; brother-in-law, Stanley Barnes; uncle, Danny Lowe; and several cousins and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Upchurch-Barnes; and his sister-in-law, Debby Upchurch.

There will be no public services according to Mike’s wishes. Cremation will take place at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and burial will be at South Mound Cemetery. You may express condolences or share a memory of Mike at www.hinsey-brown.com.
