Michelle D. Tompkins, 52, of Kennard passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness. She was born on July 26, 1970 in Greenfield, IN, a daughter of Danny L. and Melinda L. (Glisson) Tompkins of Kennard.
Michelle was an intelligent, beautiful, loving lady who would light up a room with her smile. Michelle never met a stranger and if you didn’t have a friend, Michelle would become one. Michelle’s ability to befriend anyone and her passion for makeup and hairstyling, it came as no surprise when she decided to become a cosmetologist. However, sadly, this dream never came to pass due to Michelle being diagnosed with progressive MS at 19 years old. MS took an incredible toll on Michelle’s body but she never lost faith and praised God till the end. Michelle loved going to church and was there for every service and event until she no longer was able to do so. Due to the physical care required, Michelle was admitted to Northview Care, where in normal Michelle style, she became the very heart of the facility and as caregivers have stated, Michelle was the “nursing home” and she kept everyone busy. Michelle will be missed by many, especially her loving parents, but her impact on lives will last forever.
In addition to her parents, Michelle is survived by her brother, Brian (Angela) Tompkins of Markleville and their children, Amy and Jackson; uncle, Jerry Wayne (Marilyn) Glisson of Kennard; and several cousins.
Michelle was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charles and Vera Glisson; paternal grandparents, Carlie and Dolly Tompkins; nephew, Wyatt Tompkins; uncle, Joseph Wayne Tompkins; aunt, Karen Thomas.
A service of worship will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, January 7, 2022 at Real Community Church, 528 N. Meridian St. Ingalls, IN 46048, with Pastor Jerry Ballard officiating. A private burial will take place at Glen Cove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Visitation hours will be from 12:00pm until time-of-service Saturday at the church.
