Nancy Ellen Van Hoose Brausa

Nancy Ellen (Conway) Van Hoose Brausa, 90, a lifelong resident of New Castle passed away Saturday evening, October 24, 2026 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born March 2, 1936 in New Castle to the late Wilbur and Ruth (Catt) Conway.

A homemaker, Nancy was a 1953 graduate of New Castle High School. She was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church and later belonged to Christ United Methodist Church, both in New Castle.

An accomplished artist, Nancy won several awards in local art shows. She currently has paintings on display at the Henry County Historical Society. Other hobbies include quilting, sewing, reading and writing poetry.

Survivors include two sons: David (Carol) Van Hoose of Mebane, North Carolina and Benjamin Van Hoose of Kingman, Arizona; a daughter: Dorothy (Rick) Shopp of New Castle; grandchildren: Joshua Shopp, Matthew Van Hoose, Andrew Van Hoose and Michael Van Hoose; great-grandchildren: Luna, Veda, Edith, Ingrid and Elias; a niece: Amy Madden of Hillsboro, IN; a sister: Sylvia Narula of Ojai, California and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by two sisters: Carolyn Sue Conway and Mary Beth Van Arsdol and her husband: Carl Brausa.

Private graveside services will be held at Mooreland Cemetery.
