Nancy Diane Young

Nancy Diane Young, 68, of New Castle went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Bridgewater Health Care in Carmel. She was born May 27, 1957 in New Castle to the late Marvin “Red” Lundy and Dorothy (James) Lundy-Welliver.

Nancy was a sweet, caring, understanding, supportive and loving woman. She was always there to help anyone in need, whether it be a family member or someone she just met. Nancy graduated from Hagerstown High School then continued her education at Indiana University earning her Bachelors Degree in Social Work and an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. She most recently worked at Aspire in Anderson as a Social Worker and in the past at New Castle School Corporation in the Behavioral Support Services Dept. Nancy had a wonderful ability to connect and was always an advocate for the children she worked with, even winning an award with Big Brothers-Big Sisters for her advocacy. Family was most important to Nancy, but she also enjoyed NASCAR, flower gardening, sports, crafting and home interior decorating. Nancy had a strong faith in God and was an active member of Open Arms Church.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Larry Gene Young; children, Kelli Maye (Rocky) Cheesman and Charles Tyler Choina; step children, Scott and Renee Choina; grandchildren, Keagan “Mac” and Kamryn Renee Cheesman; sisters, Carolyn McCall and Melissa Smith; sister-in-law, Chris Lundy and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Michael Renee Choina and two siblings, Marvin “Buster” Lundy Jr. and Debbie S. Lundy.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Davis officiating.
