P. Frank Bowling

February 28, 1951 — November 11, 2025

New Castle

P. Frank Bowling, 74 of New Castle, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at his home, while surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on February 28, 1951, in Carter County, Kentucky, Frank was the son of the late Cecil and Virginia (Thompson) Bowling.

In his younger years, Frank spent his days exploring the hills of Kentucky, fishing, playing baseball, and helping his Grandpa Thompson around the homestead. At the age of 14, he moved with his family to Indiana, where he finished growing up in Greensboro.

Frank enjoyed working on race cars, horseback riding, camping, fishing, and golfing. He and his late wife, Gloria spent many winters in Florida—soaking up the sun, hosting fish fries, and spending time with friends.

Frank worked for Firestone and Chrysler before becoming a heavy machine operator for several companies. He retired in 2013 after many years of traveling across the country working on pipeline projects. He was a member of the Local #103 International Operators Union. He was a lifelong member of the Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Shawn (Steve) Thurston of New Castle; his son, F. Scott (Kari) Bowling of Anderson; and the mother of his children, Kathy Black Miller. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Emily (Kamal) Singh of Gurnee, Illinois; Jared (Abigail) Thurston of New Castle; and Skylar (Zack) Durant of Anderson, Nikkilee (Brad) Hartwell of Nebraska. His great-grandchildren include Jack and Alec Thurston, Avery, Alex, and Willow Durant, Sophia, Bentlee, and Karoline Hartwell. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Andy (Teresa) Chew of New Castle and Kris (Mike) Clarkson of Rushville.

Additional survivors include his brother, William “Bill” Bowling; sisters, Carolyn Bowling and Judy Bowling; cousin and good friend, Jeff Bowling; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Faith Groce and brother-in-law Stephen Lewman.

Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria Bowling; his parents, Cecil and Virginia Bowling; cousins, Jiggs Johnson; Norm Bowling a grandson Nicholas Thurston; and several aunts and uncles.
