Patricia “Pat” Lynn Bogue

Patricia “Pat” Lynn Bogue, 82, of Spiceland, Indiana, went to be with her husband, Wayne, on August 22, 2025, in New Castle, Indiana. She was born on April 7, 1943, in Revelo, Kentucky, the daughter of Douglas and Nancy (Wright) Strunk.

Above all, Pat cherished her family. She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Emerson of Spiceland and Amanda (Marcus) Boyd of Spiceland; grandchildren Zachary Ross Emerson of Anderson, Alyse Noelle Emerson of Spiceland, and Taylor Faith Boyd and Aubrey Hope Boyd, both of Spiceland; two sisters, Kathy Painter of Spiceland and Jackie (Ron) Clendenin of Chesterfield; and other beloved family members.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of over 61 years, Wayne Bogue, in 2023. At age 12, in the 6th grade at Spiceland Elementary, when it was time to resume class after lunch time, Wayne asked her to be his girlfriend. She, of course, said yes! Their lives went forward together, and they were married on Sunday, August 5, 1962 in a double wedding with her sister, Kathy, and her husband, Charles Painter.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Nancy Strunk; her in-laws, Kenneth and Goldie Bogue; her son-in-law, Ken Emerson; and other cherished family members from her second "home" in Oneida, Tennessee.

Pat was a devoted member of the Spiceland Friends Meeting for over 50 years. Pat, Kathy and their friend, Barbara Anderson Ward, formed The Friendly Persuasion in 1977. They wanted to share their faith through music, and visited area churches for many years. They also recorded two albums, the second which included their six daughters.

She was a past member of the Alpha Tau chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa in New Castle and gave tirelessly of her time and talents to her community. A charter member of the South Henry Breakfast Optimist Club, Pat faithfully served for many years. She dedicated over 40 years as a member of the Board of Governors of the Spiceland Alumni and Former Student Association and served on the board of SPATS (Hoover Hall) for several years. She also contributed greatly to the Spiceland Public Library, where she was a board member from 1972 until 1996.

In the late 1980s, Pat found joy in sewing, creating handcrafted “Bogie Bags, Etc.” Her specialty was designing bags and festive Santas, which brought happiness to family and friends.

Pat’s professional life was dedicated to serving others. She worked in the funeral service for many years, working at Main and Frame Funeral Home from 1970 to 1995, and at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service from 1995 to 2002 when she retired, though she continued part-time until recently. Her compassion and commitment touched countless families through her work.

Pat will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her boundless dedication to community service, her creativity, and the love she shared with all who knew her.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with her cousin Steve Lambert and pastor Mark Herbkersman officiating. Pat loved being with and talking to people, sharing stories and memories with them all. The family would welcome anyone who would like to share their memories during the service. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
