Peggy Ann Carpenter

Peggy Ann Carpenter, 78, of rural Henry County passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 16, 2026 at her residence. She was born September 27, 1947 in Muncie to the late James and Janice (Freeman) Stevenson.

She attended Center High School in Muncie. Throughout her life, she nurtured a genuine passion for caring for animals, alongside a love for the simple joys of cooking, fishing, and camping in the great outdoors. After a career as a teacher’s aid for New Castle Schools, she dedicated her time to the people she cherished most. Above all else, Peggy lived with a heart that put her family first as a truly caring and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 27 years, Don Carpenter; children, Butch (Tressa) Fields, Ronnie Fields, Shane Fields (Peggy) and James Fields; grandchildren, Trey, Midas, Hunter, Michael, Maddie, Colton, Brock, Derek and Nicole (James) Rowles; several great grandchildren; and a special friend, Darren Wilson.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Mindy Fields and a brother.
