Peggy L. Harding, 92, of Mt. Summit passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026 at Henry Community Health. She was born March 5, 1934 in Magness, Arkansas to the late Ewing “Chick” and Virginia “Teen” (Smith) Bevans.
Affectionately known as "Grandma Peg" to almost everyone she met, she lived a life full of warmth, community, and simple pleasures. Though she spent many dedicated years as a homemaker, her earlier days were marked by a compassionate spirit as she worked in home health care. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Outside of caring for others, Grandma Peg found joy in the great outdoors, often spending her time happily tending to her yard. She loved bowling and cherished memorable trips to Tennessee with her friends, but she was perhaps most famously known for her delicious, homemade pecan pies that won the hearts of all who tasted them.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin (Steve) Padgett; grandchildren, Holly (Brian) Wisehart, Brittany (Rodney) DeLucio, Lyndsay Padgett (Stanley Burrell) and Steven (Elizabeth) Padgett; several great grandchildren; a sister, Penny Wilson; a sister-in-law, Irene Bevans and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Harding; brothers, William Bevans, Jim Bevans, Dick Bevans and Jerry Bevans.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Mt. Summit Cemetery with Pastor Jalen Malone officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. You may express condolences or share a memory of Peggy at www.hinsey-brown.com.
