Philip D. Perry, 87, of New Castle died Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Stonebrook Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. He was born December 6, 1920 in Millville, Indiana, a son of the late Ira Elmer and Elnora (Leonard) Perry.
A lifetime area resident, he retired for the U.S. Post Office on January 2, 1985 after 32 years of service. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force serving from 1942 thru 1944. He was a former member of the Nettle Creek Church of the Brethren where he was active for many years. He was currently a member of the Memorial Wesleyan Church in New Castle. He enjoyed camping and fishing and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include two daughters: Patricia Ann (husband: Larry) Bundy of Knightstown and Linda Susan (husband: Danny) Davis of New Castle; a daughter-in-law: Ruby Perry of New Castle; seven grandchildren: Terrilynn and Brian Perry both of New Castle, Marc (wife: Charmi) Bundy of Greenfield, David (wife: Susie) Bundy of Knightstown, Christopher (wife Melinda) Bundy, Jennifer (husband: Randy) Davis, and Jason (wife: Kim) Davis all of New Castle; a step granddaughter: Misty (husband: Joel) Schielie of Greenfield; nine great grandchildren: Nathan Philip and Corbin Bundy, Erin and Adam Bundy, James and Anna Davis, Landon, Adrienne and Meredith Bundy; two step great grandchildren: Michael and Madison Schielie; two sisters: Theo Blaylock of Dallas, Texas and Wanda Carmack of New Castle; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Martha Mae Fatzinger Perry in 2007; son: John Bernard Perry; two sisters: Ruth Gordon and Amy Shaw; and four brothers: Eugene, Merle, Arnold and Trever Perry.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastor Marc Bundy officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer Disease Research Foundation or American Diabetes Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
