Phillip Austin Murphy, 21, of Mt. Summit, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident while on his way to work. He was born March 2, 1994 in New Castle.
A 2012 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School, he enjoyed his time in the Machine Trade Vocational Department while there. Phillip was presently employed at Auto-Car in Hagerstown.
Although Phillip had all intentions of living on earth for many more years, he made a decision to prepare for his destiny just a few weeks ago when he committed his life to the Lord at New Life Church in Indianapolis. He became a child of God, and was truly saved by grace. This decision helps his wife and family find some peace at this tragic time.
He enjoyed woodworking, attending car shows, and loved to make people laugh. A true family-man, his all-time favorite thing was being with his family and friends. To know him was to love him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 10 months, Paige Norris Murphy, whom he married March 28, 2015, and their son, Cameron Jack Murphy, both of Mt. Summit; his mother and stepfather, Kaye (Chris) Adkins of New Castle; his dad and step-mom, Mike (Kim) Duvall of New Castle; siblings, McKinley Duvall, Kylie Greene, Katelyn Lundy, Abigail Lundy, Jake Adkins, and Kaiden Hudelson; maternal grandparents, Tammy Solomon of Muncie, Jim Murphy of Collins, MS; paternal grandparents, Allene Duvall and Charley Duvall, both of Albany, KY; Brenda (Mike) Wilson of New Castle; grandma, Cindy Norris of Mt. Summit; maternal great grandmother, Geneva Murphy of New Castle; many aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as many friends who Phillip considered family.
He was preceded in death by maternal great grandparents, Henry Murphy; and paternal great grandparents, Ellen Prater, Laura Crabtree and Dorothy and Jr. Duvall.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 with Pastor Eric Haler officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Memorial contributions may be given to the Cameron Jack Murphy Trust Fund, c/o Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, 3406 S. Memorial Drive, New Castle, IN 47362.
