Porter Russell Perdue, 89, of New Castle went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 5, 2025 at IU Health Ball Hospital. He was born August 24, 1936 in Clinton County, Kentucky to the late John Perdue and Nadine (Tuggle) Johnson.
Russell was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1953-1955. He retired from Avesta Sheffield Plate (Ingersoll Steel) in 1995 following 30 years of service then owned and operated Bryant Printing in New Castle from 1982-1990. Russell had also worked part time at Main & Davis Funeral Home and loved helping families. He was an outdoorsman and was an avid hunter, enjoyed running his beagles and fishing. Russell was also an avid bowler. He attended Heritage Apostolic Church in Muncie and Turning Point Life Center in New Castle for many years. More than anything, Russell lived his life for the Lord and was eagerly waiting to hear the words, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of thy lord.”
He is survived by his sons, Mike (Laura) Perdue, Ron (Marylin) Perdue and John Perdue; a daughter, Debbie (John) Williams; grandchildren, Autumn (Tim) Niles, Ron Perdue Jr., Matt (Maren) Perdue, Gina Bratton, Amanda Pribble, Adam (Tori) Perdue, Dustin (Crystal) Perdue, Brock (Tiffany) Perdue and Michelle (Brandon) Burke; 21 great grandchildren; siblings, Lyle (Rhonda) Johnson, Marsha Patton and Dallas Patton and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a step-father, Willard Johnson; 1st wife of 49 years, Betty S. Perdue; 2nd wife of 13 years, Mary E. Mansfield-Perdue; a daughter, Lisa Ann Perdue; siblings, Maxine Maloyed, Pauline Curtis and Mike Johnson.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with his grandsons, Matt and Adam Perdue officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Garden with military honors conducted by contingents from the U.S. Army, New Castle American Legion and VFW.
