Ralph Edward Renfro, 71, of Knightstown, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Community East Hospital. He was born November 13, 1943 in Knightstown the son of the late Ithel D. Masters Renfro.
Ralph was a veteran of in the U.S. Army and served as a Specialist 4th Class from1964-1966. At Barber School he served as president of the student council. He had been employed at Westinghouse in Muncie and barbered in New Castle, Muncie, Middletown and 17 years in Knightstown. Ralph was an avid LA Dodgers baseball fan, having met Tommy Lasorda several times. He served as Sports Editor for the Tri-County Banner and correspondent for the New Castle Courier Times. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church in New Castle, Lions Club and Kiwanis Club. He was also a Knightstown Park Board member.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol (French) Renfro whom he married June 11, 1967; a son, Michael Renfro; a granddaughter, Alexis Elaine Renfro; sisters, Peggy (Marvin) Walker, Patty (Pete) Buckley, Janet (Jim) Keck, and Margaret (Don) Farmer; brother, Walter (Beverly) Renfro of FL; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Matthew; sisters, Loretta McCreary and Ellen Corillo; and brothers, Max and Carlos.
Services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, May 29, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Steve Hickman officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 PM in Hopewell Cemetery near Farmland. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
