Reta Faye Wysong

Reta Faye Wysong, 63, of Winchester, passed away unexpectedly in Ascension St. Vincent Randolph on Sunday, April 5, 2026. She was born on January 23, 1963, in Jamestown, TN, daughter of the late James Ewing and Ruby (Cooper) Smith.

A 1981 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School, Reta worked as a beautician at Pro Cuts and then in nursing homes. She then was a cook at Heritage House in New Castle and Willow Bend in Selma for many years. She had attended Calvary Baptist Church in New Castle and Greensboro Church of the Nazarene.

Very sweet and loving, fun, and kind were some ways her family describe her. She enjoyed watching her grandsons play sports, enjoyed traveling, playing cards and was a die-hard wrestling and soap opera watcher.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Jeffrey (Kailei) Guffey of New Castle; two grandsons, Cael Guffey and Rowan Guffey; a sister, Debbie (Ed) Shelton of New Castle; a brother, J.E. (Lisa) Smith of New Castle; special friends, Diane Cole of New Castle and Junior Wysong o Winchester; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie Wysong; sisters, Doris Smith, Gail Smith, Betty Smith; nephew, Jonathan Shelton; great nephew, Kyler Shelton; niece, Loretta Terry.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, with services starting at 6 p.m. with Pastor Gene Bennett officiating. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 10, 2026, at Green Hill Cemetery in Livingston, TN. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
