Richard Edward Fox

November 26, 1935 — January 5, 2024

Richard Edward Fox, 88, was surrounded by his loving family when he made a graceful exit and found eternal peace on Friday, January 5, 2024. He was born November 26, 1935 to the late Lawence Daniel and Margaret Elizabeth Fox.

He attended Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School. He then proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. In his younger years, Richard attended the old North 18th Street Methodist Church. He and his loving wife, Eva, enjoyed camping, boating, water skiing on the Brookville Reservoir. Richard loved to swim in their back yard pool. He enjoyed his farm, riding his horses, fishing, watching the Colt’s and Chief’s football games, old westerns and military movies and documentaries.

Richard was an excellent provider and protector of his family. He was an honest, selfless and generous man. He owned and operated Fox Construction in the 60’s and built many of the rock walls around the New Castle area. He retired from Chrysler corporation after 37 years and 7 months of continuous dedicated service.

Richard was a dedicated family man with a strong work ethic and was always there to help anyone in need of anything. He was many things to many people; a son, husband, father, grandfather, friend, ect.; but especially, he was the world to his grandkids and great grandkids. He was always there for them, especially Tylyn “Bobblehead”, when he lost his father at an early age.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, John Fox, Leann Massengale and Delina (Jim) Carter; brothers, Larry Fox, Gary Fox and Hardy Fox; former sister-in-law, Lucy Fox; sister, Mary Harrington; grandchildren, Jimbo (Krissy) Carter, Tina (Dave) Carter-Pate, Danny (Judy) Carter, Amber Garner, Jenna (Sam) Davis, Haley (Kyile Mousty) Massengale; 11 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richard has been reunited and preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 52 years, Eva (Catron) Fox; son, Richard E. Fox Jr., step-son, Jimmy McCutchen; grandson, Tyler Massengale; mother and father-in-law, John and Zona (Denny) Catron; brothers, Robert, Thomas and Donald Fox and a sister, Virginia Fox-Johnson.
