Robert W. Carnes

Robert W. Carnes, 64 of Muncie passed away Friday, October 21, 2022 at I.U. Health Ball Hospital in Muncie. He was born February 14, 1958 in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late James and Lois (Maple) Carnes.

He was employed for Corrigan Oil Company (formerly Norrick Petroleum Company) for the past 16 years. Robert had previously worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Anderson for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and having a drink on the porch. Robert especially enjoyed spending time with his grandbabies.

Survivors include his three children, Kristen Carnes, Christopher (Danielle) Carnes and Blake Carnes, all of Muncie; five grandchildren, Jacob Danielson, Kyle Buck, Sophia Carnes, Rylee Carnes and Owen Carnes; one great granddaughter, Daliyah Buck; siblings, Beth Hopkins, of Winchester, Diane (Butch) Gillock of New Castle, Jeff Carnes of Muncie, Jim (Patsy) Carnes of Florida, Bruce (Sharon) Carnes of Missouri, Tom (Janet) Carnes of Middletown and Brian (Nancy) Carnes of Utica; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy; a sister, Jennifer “Penny” Rice; brothers, David Carnes and Jerry Carnes; best friend, Mark “Tree” Goodpaster and a niece, Teresa Rice.

Services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Matt Carnes officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home. You may express condolences or share a memory of Robert at www.hinsey-brown.com .
