Robert Steven Dalton

Robert Steven “Steve” Dalton, 74, a resident of New Castle passed away Thursday, July 2, 2026 at his home. He was born August 13, 1951 in Henry County to the late Asa Evan and Thelma Joyce (New) Dalton.

Steve retired from the city of New Castle in 2023 and was self-employed as a carpenter for 25 years. He began his career as a painter with Denver Loveless Painting. Steve was a member of the New Castle Moose Lodge where he had worked in his younger years. He had a huge heart and was always looking for ways to help others.

Survivors include four grandchildren: Haley June Dalton (Rose Dalton), Brittney Sue Dalton (Aaron Russon), Asa Evan Dalton and Avery Elizabeth Dalton; great-grandson: Easton Russon; two sisters: Diana Jean (Larry) Brown and Cristie (Don) Wilson; a brother: Mark Allen (Dianna) Dalton; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by two sons: Robert Steven "Bobby" Dalton, Jr in 2002 and John Evan Dalton in 2022.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Grady Horn officiating. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 1:00pm Saturday until the time of the Celebration of Life. Cremation will take place at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service.
