Rogelia V. Piñon, 93, of Mount Summit, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Henry County Community Health. She was born on September 9, 1932, in Toluca, Mexico, a daughter of the late Jose and Juan (Gomez) Vazquez.
Rogelia was a dedicated wife and mother who devoted her life to caring for her family and others. She was a wonderful cook and especially enjoyed spending time caring for her grandchildren. She was known for her caring nature and willingness to help those around her.
Rogelia was also a hardworking woman who spent many years working in the fields, traveling wherever work was available. She picked flowers, produce, and fruits and took great pride in her work. At home, she enjoyed tending to her garden, where she grew tomatoes and jalapeños. She especially loved canning and was known for making her own hot sauce which according to her standards was never hot enough.
She attended Memorial Wesleyan Church. In her free time, Rogelia enjoyed embroidery and sewing.
Rogelia is survived by her son, Felipe Piñon (wife, Hilda) of North Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Celestina Hernandez (husband, Antonio), of Mission, TX; son, Raul Piñon Jr., of Mt. Summit; daughter, Hope Logston, of Mt. Summit; son, Alberto (significant other: Vanessa Phares) Piñon, of Mt. Summit; daughter, Maxi (significant other: Celestino Santiago Cruz) Duvall, of Anderson; son, Horace Piñon, of Mt. Summit; son, Noel Piñon, of Worcester, MA; twenty-four proud grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Rogelia was preceded in death by her husband, Raul Pacheco Piñon; son, Jose Piñon; sons-in-law, Terry Duvall and Gary Logston; granddaughters, Isabel Hernandez and Kristen Bowers.
Services will be held at 11:00pm Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Dennis Hilton officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the funeral home. You may express condolences or share memories of Rogelia at www.hinsey-brown.com.
