Roger Alan Griffin, Sr., age 86, of Greenfield passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born August 18, 1939 in Arcadia, Indiana to the late Paul Fredrick Griffin and Mary Frances (Sholty) Spurling.
Roger graduated from Jackson Central High School in Arcadia in 1957. He began his professional journey at Ready Tool and Die in Connersville, later working for Dependable Engineering in Indianapolis for several years, before retiring from Ford Motor Company. He and his wife, Deanna, embraced a passion for camping and RVing across the United States. As a devoted grandfather, Roger cherished attending every event involving his grandchildren, ensuring he was always present to support them.
Square dancing played a significant role throughout Roger's life; he was an active member of various square-dancing clubs and called dances throughout Indiana, including at several National Square Dance Conventions. He was a regular attendee at Bradley United Methodist Church until health issues prevented him from doing so. Even after he could no longer attend in person, he continued to engage with his faith by watching services led by Rev. Charles Stanley.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 63 years, Deanna Griffin; children, Alan (Emmy) Griffin, Jodi Griffin (Andrea Little), Matthew (Shelli) Griffin; grandchildren, Whitley (T.J.) Stoops, Vicki Griffin, Kim (Joe) LeGaspi, Wade (Laura) Griffin, Roger A. Griffin III, Alex (Kate) Northington, Felix Urista-Little (Belen); great grandchildren, Aliyah Fada, Charlee Fisher, Maggie Stoops and Leo Griffin; siblings, Sara (Delbert) Ryse, Sue Rowell, Melissa Hach, Frank (Theresa) Griffin, Kathy Turner; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Paul Steven Griffin; brother-in-law, Don Rowell.
Services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel, with Pastor Zach Korff officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences and memories of Roger may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.
