Ronald "Ronnie" Keith Trimnell

September 25, 1936 — April 22, 2026

Knightstown

Ronald Keith Trimnell, 89, a lifelong Knightstown resident and farmer, passed away April 22, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born at the family home in Bartholomew County on September 25, 1936, to Clarence and Dolores (Holbrook) Trimnell. He was the 11th born of 13 children. In 1943, the family farm was sold and the family relocated to the Knightstown area. Ronnie graduated from Knightstown High School in 1954 and was an FFA member. Upon graduation, he worked for Tweedy Lumber Company, raised his two younger sisters, and on August 30, 1958, married his wife of 66 years, Verla (Jordan) Trimnell.

Ronnie farmed his entire life and clerked at numerous estate sales. He served as the township trustee and was a member of the Charles A. Beard school board for several years. He enjoyed tinkering and farming with his antique farm equipment and got to see a lot of changes in agriculture during his 89 years as he grew up farming with horses (hayburners as he called them). Brands that held a special place in his heart were Oliver, Allis Chalmers, and Minneapolis Moline. He could usually be found in his shop, in the field, taking care of his hogs, or at Burger King. Ronnie especially enjoyed going to antique tractor shows and farm toy shows. He was always friendly, helpful, and humble. He will also be remembered for his sharp mind. He could fix almost anything and remember details of most purchases he made. A lot of knowledge and history left when he did.

Left to cherish his memory are 5 children, Darrell (Christina) Trimnell of Beech Grove, Patty Wilson of Lewisville, Pam (Erick) Owens of Dadeville, Alabama, Anita (Dean) Wooldridge of Knightstown, and Dale Trimnell of Knightstown. Those that call him Papaw include Kayla (Matt) May, Britney (Bart) Fraley, Jacob Back, Jordan Back, Kurtis Grandison, Kyle (Julie) Wilson, Aaron (Emily) Wilson, and Abagale Trimnell. He is survived by 9 great grandchildren, Tyler, Laramie, Liliana, Melanie, Houston, Audrey, Oliver, Dalton, and Alexis. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many good neighbors and friends.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife, parents, in-laws Harold and Edna (Davis) Jordan, 9 half-brothers, half-sister, sisters, Marjorie Trimnell Brammer and Nancy Trimnell Carter, and special canine companion, Sandy.

The family would like to sincerely thank the wonderful staff at Suburban Hospice, Hancock Regional Hospital Hospice unit, and Amanda, Melissa, Allison, and Sharon with “Sisters Private Hospice Care” for their kindness and loving care.
