Rose Mary (Alley) Acrey-Adkins, 54, died suddenly Tuesday, December 9, 2008 in Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, TN. She was born June 30, 1954 in Monticello, KY the daughter of James and Suvella (Bertram) Alley. June 1, 1970, Rose Mary married Kinney Acrey and had one child, Angela (Acrey) Wright. She grew up in the New Castle area, moving to Garden Grove, CA, where she resided for many years before returning home to Indiana in 1984.
Rose Mary was a warm-hearted person who would help in any way possible. She loved taking care of her family and her dogs, Eminem and Molly. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren. She was very talented and creative, enjoyed designing floral arrangements, gardening, interior decorating, home improvements and shopping. She was an avid collector of angels, dolphins, lighthouses, and candles. She also loved to read and write poetry.
She loved having peaceful family gatherings, cooking big holiday meals, and decorating for Christmas, her favorite holiday. While living in California, she loved visiting the beach and going on long motorcycle rides with all her friends.
She is survived by a daughter: Angela Acrey (husband: Kevin)Wright of Shelbyville, TN; grandchildren: Rashell (husband: Daniel) Rice of Smithville, TN; Chris Atkins, Jr.; Justin and Jarade Wright all of Shelbyville, TN; Amaretta Young of Monticello, KY; Marissa Shelton of New Castle; great grandchildren: McKinzie Raley of New Castle and Hallie Elizabeth Rice (expected in January of 2009) of Smithville, TN; sisters: Janet (husband: Jeff) Melton of New Lisbon; Lisa Groce of New Castle; sister-in-law: Lola Alley of Straughn; special friends: Mike & Joyce Ford of Lewisville; Ted and Dawn Sherry of New Castle; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, one great niece and several great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Suvella Alley, father, James Alley; sister: Debbie (Alley) Bell; brother: Terry Alley; a previous mother-in-law: Louise (Parmley) San Miguel; previous father-in-law: Dock Acrey: son-in-law: Johnny “Bo†Young.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, December 12, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Brother Ray Boiles officiating. Burial will follow in New Lisbon Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Online condolences may be made at www.hinsey-brown.com .
