Ruby J. Beaudry Dockter, age 99, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2026, at Henry Community Health. She was born October 24, 1926, in Raysville, to Andrew J. and Elizabeth (Roe) Stephens.
A 1944 graduate of Lewisville High School, Ruby received nurses training to become a Qualified Medical Assistant Supervisor at the New Castle State Hospital, where she worked many years as a Psychiatric Attendant and a Supervisor. After retirement, she enjoyed substitute teaching for New Castle Schools. Known to be a “bookworm”, she loved reading and also enjoyed crossword puzzles, word searches, and her fur baby friend, Lailei.
She was a longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Grand Avenue Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Charles (Ho) Beaudry of New Castle, Dawn French of New Castle, and Lynn (Larry) Marsh of Madison; daughter in law, Sue Beaudry; grandchildren, Mark, Roanna, Brian, Josh, Misty, Aaron, Ethan, Joey, Jeremy, Charline, Lisa, Holly, Jerrie, and Jonathan; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Mary Coleman of New Castle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Litton Beaudry; second husband, John Dockter; four children, Sarah Beaudry, Susan Beaudry, Robert Beaudry, and Dennis Beaudry; two granddaughters, Karen and Paula; four sisters, Mary, Donna, Bertha, and Opal; three brothers, Homer, Bill and Otto Stephens, and a half brother, George.
Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, where services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Pastors Charles Dugger and Tony Piper will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to Riley Hospital for Children at www.rileykids.org.
