Ryan Kent Brown

Ryan Kent Brown, age 52, a resident of Springport, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Castleton Healthcare Center. Born on February 26, 1974, in Muncie, IN, Ryan was a 1992 graduate of Chrysler High School, New Castle, and later attended IU East in Richmond.

Ryan worked at Walmart and Val Discount Stores in New Castle. A dedicated member of the Civil Air Patrol, he participated in numerous search and rescue missions. His love for animals and proficiency in karate were well known. Ryan cherished spending time with his father at the movies, particularly enjoying horror, military, and Chuck Norris films.

He is survived by his father, Greg Kent Brown of Springport; sister, Danielle (Tony) Sutherlin of Spiceland; brother, Ross (Lauren) Edwards of Muncie; uncles, Alan Brown of Middletown and Mark McMillan of New Castle; aunts, Cinda (Chris) Koger and Lisa Moreland, both of New Castle, and Julie Cochran of Elwood; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ryan was preceded in death by his mother, Sandy (McMillan) Edwards, and grandparents from both sides: Raymond Milton and Ada Agelace Brown; Charles and Betty McMillan.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Jack Hannum officiating. Burial will follow at Mooreland Cemetery.
