Samantha "Sam" Overton

Samantha “Sam” Overton, 33, of New Castle went to be with the Lord on September 22, 2023 following a brief illness. She was born in New Castle on April 4, 1990 a daughter of Alan Melton and Leah Akers.

Sam was a 2008 graduate of New Castle High School and was a very talented musician and enjoyed music. She taught herself how to play the guitar, piano and the harmonica. Sam attended the Little Red Church in Dublin. She had worked as a home health care aid and was most recently employed by Signal Home Health Care in New Castle.

Sam leaves to cherish her memory, her two children, Brooke and Lucas; father and step-mother, Alan and Linda Melton of New Castle; special friends, Amanda Kincaid and Shery Jordan; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sam was preceded in death by her mother, Leah Akers; paternal grandparents, Willie Sam and Nellie Melton; maternal grandparents, John and Eolah Akers; aunts, Barb Staton, Diana Akers and Melanie Boyer.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00pm Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Greg Hall officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30am until the time of service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Samantha Overton Memorial Fund to assist with funeral expenses with envelopes available at the funeral home.
