Sandra "Sandy" Janes

Sandra "Sandy" Janes, age 68, of Spiceland, Indiana, passed away on August 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, quick wit, and deep devotion to her family. Born on New Year’s Day in 1958 in Cicero, Illinois, to the late Frank Horne and Hazel Foster, Sandy spent the majority of her career in the food service industry, a career she was truly passionate about.

Above all else, Sandy was known for her unforgettable spirit. She was delightfully sassy, direct, and had a huge heart for those she loved. Without a doubt the funniest person to those who knew her best, Sandy’s sharp mind and quick wit could bring a room to tears of laughter with seemingly no effort at all. Outside of sharing a good laugh, she found her greatest joys in dancing, reading, traveling, spending time with her family and her cats.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Hazel, as well as several of her siblings. She is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, Danny Janes, with whom she built a life and raised four children: Michael Horne (Laura) of Chicago, IL; Danielle Janes (Alex) of Modesto, CA; Jacquelyn Hogan (Andrew) of Brookville, IN; and Jacob Janes of Spiceland, IN. She also leaves behind seven adored grandchildren, as well as extended family and many friends who will miss her humor and unmistakable presence.

A Celebration of Life to honor Sandy’s memory will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Hoover Hall in Spiceland, Indiana. Family and friends are invited to attend, share favorite stories, and celebrate a unique and unforgettable woman.
