Sarah "Nola" Armstrong, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, in Livingston, Tennessee. She was born on October 7, 1935, in Chanute, Tennessee to the late Cosby Oren and Nannie (Conley) Williams.

Nola, as she was affectionately known, worked at Sears and Roebuck Department Stores for 19 years. Beyond her professional life, she was a dedicated homemaker, finding joy and fulfillment in cooking and gardening—a passion she cultivated throughout her life, evident even this year as she had already planted her tomato plants. A longtime member of Grand Ave. Baptist Church, Nola’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her with grace and strength. Throughout her 90 years, Nola exemplified loving and caring qualities that deeply touched all who knew her. These attributes defined her relationships within her family and community, leaving a legacy of warmth and kindness.

She is survived by her children: Vicki Barber (husband, Larry) of Carmel, Indiana; Becky Palmer (husband, Dr. Robert Ruxin) of Ridgefield, Connecticut; Wayne Armstrong (wife, Rita) of New Castle, Indiana; Dale Armstrong (wife, Pam) of New Castle, Indiana; Anita Owens (husband, Paul) of Allons, Tennessee; and Mike Armstrong (wife, Tawnya) of Byrdstown, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren: Amanda Lowry (husband, Dan) of Westfield, Indiana; Erica Andresen (husband, Chris) of Fairfax, Virginia; Jessica Meyer (husband, Eric) of Zionsville, Indiana; Erin Parker (husband, Jeremy) of Hopkinton, Massachusetts; Ryan Knestrick of Westborough, Massachusetts; Ambre (husband, Dr. Jimmy Sisson) of Pendleton, Indiana; Lindsay Armstrong of New Castle, Indiana; Ashley York (husband, Matt) of New Castle, Indiana; Brittany Petty (husband, Kyle) of Freetown, Indiana; Kasey (husband, Dr. Andre Turner) of Brunswick, Ohio; and Adam Armstrong (wife, Kelsey) of New Castle, Indiana; step-grandchildren, Jef Owens of Columbus, Ohio, and Michelle Bailey of Dallas, Texas; 24 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, Carol Pennell, Penny Cross, Pat Williams, and Cindy Cook.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband, T.G. Armstrong; siblings, Robbie Whittenburg and Bill Williams; a grandson, Cory Armstrong; a great-grandson Jackson York and step-grandchildren, Chad and Josh Helton.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with funeral service starting at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Charles Dugger officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Memorial contributions may be made to Jackson's Journey, 144 Fairway Drive New Castle, IN 47362.
