Sharon Kay Keesling, 82, of New Castle, passed away peacefully at Community Hospital in Anderson, on January 4, 2026. She was born on May 26, 1943, in Anderson, IN.

Sharon grew up in Pendleton, raised by her parents, Jim and Wanda Keesling. She attended school in Middletown and was part of the last class from Middletown High School and later served as the President of the Middletown High School Alumni.

Throughout her life, Sharon dedicated herself to her career as a bookkeeper, playing a pivotal role at PEDCO., an oil and gas company in Cambridge, Ohio, where she was a part owner. She also contributed her skills at Neal’s Scrap Yard in New Castle. Those who knew her often remarked on her professionalism and her ability to connect with others in a warm and engaging manner.

Sharon's personality was one of her most defining traits; she loved fiercely and was loved by many. She possessed an innate ability to make everyone feel welcome, never meeting a stranger. Her elegance shone through in her classy attire, and her exceptional organizational skills were evident in all aspects of her life. Known for her generosity, Sharon frequently donated candy, food, and other items to nursing homes and the men's shelter in New Castle.

A woman of faith, Sharon was an ordained minister and attended services at both the United Methodist Church and the Mt. Zion Church in Middletown. She found joy in her hobbies and interests, particularly playing cards, with euchre being a favorite. Sharon had an adventurous side as well, enjoying motorcycle rides and relishing the time spent in her yard, nurturing her love for gardening and mowing. Shopping was another pleasure she cherished, often accompanied by her family, who were the center of her world.

A cherished memory from her life includes meeting John Wayne and having the remarkable experience of sitting on his lap, a story she fondly recounted.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Tim Guthrie (companion Valerie Tapp), Sherry (Rick) Gautney, and Jo (Keith) Newlin; grandchildren, Christen Guthrie, TJ (Ann) Guthrie, Brittany Guthrie, Vicky (Mike) Smith, Heather (Tanner) Thompson, Derek (Jess) Cramlett, Josh (Angie) Roe, and Caleb (Christa) Serotko; 21 great grandchildren; aunt, Joyce Hall; niece, Susan (Mike) Driskill; nephew, Steve Zirkle; several cousins; and many friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Wanda Keesling; and her sister, Janet Dobbs.
