New Castle

Shawn Allan Thompson, 43, of New Castle passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026 at his residence following a six-month battle with cancer. He was born July 27, 1983 in Rushville, Indiana to Allan Thompson and Jennifer Cameron.

Shawn is survived by his wife of 7 years, Stacy Thompson. Together, Stacy and Shawn built a loving blended family and were blessed with five children: Kane Thompson, Joshua Murray, Kynleigh Murray, Keely Thompson, and Kalley Thompson. While their family came together in a unique way, they embraced the journey of becoming one family, creating countless memories along the way. Whether celebrating milestones, navigating life’s challenges, or simply enjoying time together, he found meaning in the life they shared. He was proud of the family they built and grateful for each of the children who helped shape it.

Shawn was a proud father who held himself to high standards, balancing his hardworking career in commercial heating and cooling with a rich tapestry of passions. Whether he was rocking out as a guitarist, diving into Marvel movies—with Batman reigning as his ultimate favorite superhero—riding motorcycles, or tuning into his strong faith through online teachings by Pastor Cliffe Knechtle, Shawn lived life with enthusiasm. He also loved the great outdoors, finding peace in camping and fishing, and shared his voice with the world alongside his close friend Randy on their podcast, Rural America. Above all, his greatest pride was his children, who carry forward cherished moments with their daddy: Keely treasures sharing the exact same birthday as him; Kynleigh holds dear their trip to Tennessee, especially visiting the Wax Museum; Kane fondly remembers late nights binge-watching movies together; Kalley smiles at the memory of playing endless games of hide-and-seek; and Josh cherishes the special times they spent visiting the fair together.

He is also survived by parents, Allan and Misty Thompson, siblings, Ashley Beagle (Steve Rankin), Heather Thompson (Aaron Frodge), Logan Thompson (Mackenzie Rhyno), Alexis (Brock) Williams; several nieces and nephews; grandparents, Judy and Larry Thomas; special uncle, Ron Cameron (Lisa) who also played a major part in his life; several other aunts and uncles and a handful of lifelong friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Jennifer Cameron; a special aunt, Connie Martin; paternal grandparents, John and Charlotte Thompson; maternal great grandmother Adams; and a close friend, Randy Davis.

Services will be held privately with burial at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition.
