Shirley Ann Shepherd

Shirley Ann Shepherd, 84, of Greensboro passed away Friday, July 18, 2025 at Brandywine Brickyard Healthcare in Greenfield. She was born September 1, 1940 in Somerset, Kentucky the daughter of Herbert and Kathleen Ellen (Strunk) Black.

Shirley was a 1958 graduate of Knightstown High School and retired from Kennard Elementary School after 30 years of service. She also worked at Ameriana Bank in Knightstown for 10 years. She enjoyed camping with her husband, vacationing, cooking, knitting and wintering in Florida. Shirley grew up in the Kennard Christian Church and was a member of Cadiz Christian Church.

She is survived by grandsons, Mitchell (Noelle) Shepherd and Zachary (Abbey) Shepherd; a sister, Sue (Darry) Hood; daughter-in-law, Kim Shepherd; great granddaughter, Frehley Shepherd; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Verlon Shepherd; two sons, Christopher Shepherd and Gregg Shepherd.

Services will be at 3:00 PM Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Larry Carmony officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of service. Condolences and memories of Shirley may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.
