Stephen Cory

Stephen Cory, 76, of New Castle passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday May 19, 2026, at his home. He was born on June 25, 1949, in Indianapolis to the late Walter and Kathryn (Hoover) Cory.

Growing up in Missouri, Stephen graduated from Lindbergh High School. After high school Stephen went on to Southwest Missouri State before joining the United States Army. Stephen served as an MP while in the Army.

After his service in the Army Stephen returned to Indiana to take over the family farm. He served as a board member for the New Lisbon Telephone Company for many years. Stephen loved fishing, playing cards, especially poker and his animals. Above all his greatest joy was his grandchildren.

Stephen is survived by his children, Nathan (Nikki) Cory of Vincennes and Sara (Rich) Holliday of Arkansas; grandchildren, Mia, Colin, Raney, Tessa, Savannah and Jessica; brother, Mark Cory.

In addition to his parents Stephen is preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Cory and son, Shad Cory.

Family would like to give a heart-felt thank you to Henry County Hospice, Debbie Luellen, Becky Elliot and Kim Goar.

A private graveside service will take place at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
