Terry D. Stephens, 81, of Hope, formerly of Greensboro, passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospice. He was born October 15, 1935 in Ft. Knox, KY a son of Noah and Pearl (Fultz) Stephens.
Terry retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1992 after 27 years of service. He had also worked maintenance at Faith Manor Apartments in New Castle. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. Terry was a member of the New Castle American Legion #371, the VFW, Kennard Baptist Church, UAW and former member of New Castle Moose Lodge. He enjoyed doing Karaoke at the Elks Lodge, gardening, auto body work and driving the church bus.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Margaret Stephens; five children, Barbara Galloway (Richard Pritt) of Knightstown, Michael Stephens of Knightstown, Cindy Thompson (Mark Counceller) of Greensboro, Lori (Joe) Bell of Kennard and Mark Stephens of Knightstown; son-in-law, Kenneth Harwood of Burkesville, KY; grandchildren, Alex, Jackie, David, Jeremy, Austin, Ray, Spencer, Ally, Beth, Jessi, Katie, Andrea and Seth; several great grandchildren; step-children, Nathanael (Colleen) Hughes of Columbus, Amelia (Zane) Giles of Anchorage, AK; step-grandchildren, Caleb, Ellen, Emilie and Julia; siblings, Loretta (Jasper) Smith, Gaye (Jack) Sparks, Gary (Doris) Stephens, Diana Watson, Jerry (Atonya) Stephens; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl Stephens, a daughter, Karen Harwood, and grandson, Johnny Costallanos.
Services will be at 11:30 AM Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastors Steve Rayburn and Dan Mitchell officiating along with Michael Stephens. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion. Burial will follow in Hicksite Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Monday.
