Thaddeus “T.J.” Richardson Jr.

Thaddeus “T.J.” Richardson Jr., 73, of Spiceland passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born September 21, 1950 to the late Thaddeus and Maggie (Sherwood) Richardson Sr.

He graduated from Rushville Consolidated High School in 1968 and served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1968 – 1974. In 2005, T.J. retired from Arvin Meritor/Roll-a-Coater in Greenfield. He farmed for many years on the family farm until 1988. T.J. enjoyed fishing, golfing, NASCAR and watching I.U. Basketball. He also enjoyed playing cards and woodworking. T.J. loved his family, most importantly his grandchildren. He loved and accepted everyone. T.J. attended Spiceland Friends Church.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Richardson; children, Timothy (Danielle) Richardson, Travis Richardson, Amy (Bill) Upchurch and Megan (Bobby) Chandler; grandchildren, Maggie (Mason) Johnson, Madison Hinshaw, Devin Richardson, Chloe Saunders, Tyler and Serena Richardson, Max and Gus Upchurch, Halle, Hank and Harper Chandler; great-grandchildren, Brantley Johnson; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Howard Richardson; sisters, Phyllis (Paul) Soloman and Barbara Richardson.

Services will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Spiceland Friends Church with Eric Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Raleigh Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial Contributions may be sent to Hoover Hall, 103 E.
