Tracy Joe Moore

d. January 25, 2026

Carthage

Tracy Joe Moore, age 66, of Carthage, Indiana, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on January 25, 2026.

Tracy was born to Joe “Ike” Leonard Moore and Betty Jean (Mann) Moore, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a proud graduate of Eastern Hancock High School, Class of 1978, where he excelled as a center for the Eastern Hancock Royals basketball team. He was also a longtime member of the VFW in honor of his father’s service in the U.S. Army, including his service at Guadalcanal.

Following graduation, Tracy began developing his skills in the electrical trade under the guidance of his uncle, Raymond Sirosky of Sirosky Electric, and later worked alongside his brother, Gregory Moore, at Moore Electric. After years of dedication and hard work, he founded More Electric LLC in 2010. Through his commitment to quality and craftsmanship, he earned the respect of some of Indiana’s top custom home builders.

In March of 1992, Tracy met the love of his life, Tonya Rene. They were married in March of 1999 and later that year purchased their dream home in Carthage, where they shared more than two decades of love, laughter, and memories.

Tracy was an avid Notre Dame football fan who loved attending games and closely followed NASCAR, spending many days at the racetrack. He was also a skilled poker player, often coming out ahead, and enjoyed classic Western films, especially those starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood—with a special fondness for black-and-white favorites. When he wasn’t working during the spring and summer months, he could often be found in the hayfield, another of his passions. Over the past two years, Tracy developed a love for camping with Tonya, enjoying weekend trips to state and national parks, traveling with their camper and their beloved dog, Nahla.

Tracy never met a stranger. In his later years, he especially cherished what he fondly called his “old man breakfast” with friends Bob Ellis and John Abrell. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, never expecting anything in return, and was known for his warm spirit, generosity, and gift for storytelling.

He is survived by his loving wife, Tonya Moore; his sons, Thomas J. Moore (Brandi) and Jordan Unger; his granddaughters, Larissa Betty Moore, Ava May, and Harper May; his brothers, Michael Moore (Sue) and Bryan Moore (Erin); his sister, Suzy Sitton (John); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Tracy also served as a mentor to several young men over the years, with special recognition to his “bonus boys,” A.J. Sorrell, Troy Sorrell, and Brent Sorrell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gregory Moore; and his sister, Debra Clark.

Tracy was one of the most dedicated and hardworking men anyone could ever meet. He embodied integrity, kindness, and perseverance, and truly represented everything a man could aspire to be. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
