Vicky Bell, 68, of New Castle passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at IU Health Methodist Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on November 17, 1956 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Samuel and Martha (Teel) Richards.
Vicky was a 1975 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School then later earned her bachelor’s degree in education. She was an American Sign Language Interpreter and taught at New Castle and South Henry School systems retiring in 2021. Vicky had a passion for helping children and thoroughly enjoyed teaching them. In her free time, Vicky was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, sewing and baking but more than anything, loved being with her family and grandchildren and would always be there to cheer them on with anything they were involved in.
Vicky was a longtime, faithful member of The Sanctuary of New Castle where her passion for children extended through the church children’s ministry. She was affectionately known as “Grammy” to all the church kids. She served in the children’s department for many years and could always be seen helping in the kitchen for any type of event or fundraiser the church youth group was holding.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Tony Bell; a son, Tommy (Natalie) Bell; grandchildren, Perry, Emma and Annie Bell; many special children she claimed as her own; siblings, Samuel (Sheila) Richards, Clifford (Connie) Richards and Robin (Richard) Poore and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Stevie Bell; a brother, Floyd Richards; a sister, Barbara Wilkinson and father and mother-in-law, Tom and Gertrude Bell.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2025 at The Sanctuary of New Castle, 2208 Broad Street New Castle. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 4 at the church with Pastor Jeff Jaco officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens.
