Virgil L. Nasby, 88, of Knightstown, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Golden Living Center Brandywine. He was born March 10, 1933 in Prairie Elk, Montana, the son of Sigurd Knutson and Velma Lee (Taylor) Nasby.
Virgil served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He loved operating heavy equipment. Virgil and Irma owned and operated Nasby Excavating for 20 years. Virgil loved his family, was a friend to everyone and enjoyed helping others. He found pleasure in chopping wood, working outside at his home and Blue Grass music. He also raised goats for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Irma, whom he married September 25, 1955; daughter, Pam Green; daughter-in-law, Tamme Nasby; grandson, Jeremy Nasby; brothers, Dale Nasby and Severt (Carol) Nasby; sisters, Donna (Jim) Knowles and Nora Dailey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Nasby; brothers, James, Clifford and Max Nasby; sisters, Gana Worgum and Irma Franklin.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Carthage Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by contingents from the U.S. Navy and the Knightstown American Legion.
