Virginia Sue Bell, 89, of Somerset, Kentucky and formerly of New Castle departed this life on Friday, September 5th, 2025 to be in the presence of our Lord and Savior. She was born on December 23, 1935 in New Castle to the late Harrison and Louise Dudley.
Virginia was a very giving person and found much joy in helping others. She worked hard all of her life as a devoted mother and homemaker to her family and friends in her community. Virginia was a member of the Greensboro Church of the Nazarene. In September of 2022, she moved to Bluegrass Senior Living in Somerset, Kentucky where she was happy in her own apartment and loved playing Bingo, working puzzles, and traveling to special occasions with residents at the senior living center. Bluegrass Senior Living staff were like a second family to her and she loved being with them. Virginia kept her family close to her heart and was a dear friend to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Virginia was the devoted mother to her children, Jean (Doug) Combs of Waynesburg, Kentucky, Jane Wallen, Jill (Gary) Allen, Jennifer Davis and John Hylton all of New Castle; special daughter, Betty Kaye (Randall) Brown of Somerset, Kentucky; a very special sister-in-law, Bette Dudley of New Castle; her late husband’s children, Donna Bell-Loveall, Lucy Bell-Horton, Eddie, Dale and Billy Bell; special friend, Anita Helderbrand of New Castle; grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, Derrick, Miranda, Brandi, Cheri, John, Tyler, Johnathan, Bryan David, Regina and Mike; 20 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald E. Bell; a son, John Davis; siblings, Richard Dudley, Bruce Dudley and Donna Mastin and a son-in-law, Bobby Wallen.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Lake Cumberland Hospice Center and staff of Somerset, Kentucky.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 11th, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery.
