William “Bill” Alfred Pierce Jr., 79, of Spiceland passed away Friday, May 22, 2026. He was born on June 8, 1946 in Albany, Kentucky to the late Velva (Stephens) Pierce.
A man of many talents and deep passions, Bill’s journey began at Spiceland High School before he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Throughout his life, he channeled his remarkable mechanical genius into a lifelong love for racing, building numerous cars and competing at both Mt. Lawn and Anderson Speedways; simply put, there wasn’t a machine Bill couldn’t fix. Beyond his professional life, which saw him retire from Chrysler Corp. after many years of dedicated service, he was an active member of the Eagles and found great joy in his hobbies. Whether he was browsing for treasures at auctions with his son or carefully curating his gun collection, Bill lived a full life defined by his skills, his service, and the time he spent doing what he loved.
He is survived by his companion, Ruth Ann Warren; daughter, Angela (Patrick) Laboyteaux; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a sister, Anita (David) Hoopingarner and a niece and a nephew.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his son, William Alfred Pierce III and a sister, Sherry Pierce.
