Mary Lenora "Nory" Emmons

Mary Lenora “Nory” Emmons, 99, a resident of New Castle passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024 at her home. She was born September 22, 1924 in Washington, Indiana to the late Roy Nathan and Mary Frances (Wilson) Belcher.

Mary retired from Kentucky Fried Chicken after nearly 20 years of service. She had previously worked at Brooks Canning Factory in Mt. Summit and Murphy’s Five and Dime in Washington. Mary loved reading, country music and NASCAR racing, especially Jeff Gordon. She also enjoyed western movies and was a huge fan of Matt Dillon and The Virginian. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she loved to spoil.

Survivors include two daughters: Norma (Rodger) McGaughy of New Castle and Darlene Shelton of Modesto, California; two sons: John and Alan Emmons, both of New Castle; daughter-in-law Anita Emmons of New Castle; son-in-law: Roger Denney of Mooreland; grandchildren: Joe Emmons, Jr., Mike Denney, Megan Denney, Melissa Campbell, Justin McGaughy, Renee Lovitt, Tara Taylor, Brandon Sorrell and Amelia Brock; a multitude of great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; her sister and caregiver: Phyllis Sorrell of Mooreland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Carl Emmons; daughter: Linda Denney; sons: Carl Richard Emmons and Joseph Leroy Emmons; grandchildren: Jason and Jamie McGaughy, Jeri (Mike) Dalka, Debbie (Roy) Marsh and Richard Emmons; son-in-law: Bob Shelton.

Services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Mark Herbkersman officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 P.M.
